OVERVIEW
An e-wallet with an interesting catch.
The client was an investor with a clear vision: a cryptocurrency wallet that added a genuine layer of security through interaction design rather than just authentication. His argument was that most wallets on the market at the time were vulnerable the moment someone else had access to your phone.
The solution wasn't more passwords, it was making the core actions invisible to anyone who didn't already know how the app worked. No obvious send or receive buttons. Everything driven by gestures. Swipe left for chat. Swipe right for a contact feed. Stay centered for the wallet. Swipe up to send. Swipe down when receiving. The app also needed a built-in secure chat, an Instagram-style social feed, and real-time currency monitoring. It was a 0→1 project, just me and an agile project manager from Starshot Software.
APPROACH
Understanding the business before touching the UI.
The early phase was all about sitting with the client and going through each functionality in detail, the wallet, the chat, the feed;
And pressure-testing how the gesture model would actually work in practice. The wallet alone covered sending and receiving, QR code scanning, real-time currency monitoring across EOS, LTC, NEO, XMR, and others, and a layered security system including fast-place verification, email code authentication, and mnemonic recovery.
Once the main flows were mapped and iterated, I moved into refined UX wireframes while consulting in parallel with a React developer to validate what was technically feasible and catching potential issues before they became design debt. Having that technical conversation early shaped the interaction and animation approach throughout.

CONTRIBUTION

Once the wireframes for the main flows were approved, worked on the UI design.
With the UX approved, I moved into visual design building a small but complete design system covering color palette, typography, and component style, including the app icon.
When it came to prototyping, the gesture-based model needed something beyond standard prototyping tools. I used Framer and learned enough CoffeeScript to build the interactions and animations properly, using iOS easing curves to make transitions feel native.
The final prototype covered the full sending flow, was delivered to the client via email, and ran directly on his iPhone using real gestures. For handoff, animations were exported as Lottie JSON files so the React developer could implement them natively. After a final round of technical alignment sessions, my part of the project was complete.
The client was very happy with the result. The prototype successfully demonstrated the gesture model end to end, and the handoff gave the development team everything they needed to build on a React-based environment.
